About Us

ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

Islamic Research Institute, New York was established in 1983 to cater to the need for Muballigheen in New York to spread the True Teachings of Al-Islam. A training course was organized by Mawlana Anwer Ali, PhD, and a total of six Muballighs graduated in 1992. Questions, queries and quest for more Islamic knowledge from inmates in Correctional Facilities led to correspondence and visits to various facilities. The demand for Islamic knowledge spurred the instituting of a Master’s Program from 1998-2003 and a total of six graduates successfully completed the rigorous course and were awarded their Masters' degree. A forty-week Certificate Course was held during 2004-06 Academic Year and four students completed the Course satisfactorily.

THE MISSION

Islamic Research Institute, New York aims at propagating authentic knowledge in the sciences of Aqaaid (Islamic Belief System), Islamic Philosophy, Islamic History, Logic, Qur'anic Sciences, Hadith Sciences, The Seerah of The Prophet SAWW, Islamic Ethics and Morals, Jurisprudence, Critical Thinking, Comparative Religions and Contemporary Muslim World.

THE VISION

Al-Islam is presently taught by non-Muslims and Muslims of varying outlooks and perspectives. Thus, various viewpoints passed as Al-Islam are taught and propagated to raw minds causing confusion, misrepresentation, misinterpretation and falsification of The True Teachings of The Qur'an and Prophet Muhammad SAWW. To correct this, the Institute provides on-site and online courses to the general learner wishing to satisfy curiosity and the specialized learner who aims at acquiring expertise and qualifications to enable him/her present the Real Al-Islam at the highest level of learning.

ACCREDITATION

The Institute has been accredited by the American Center for Islamic Ideology. Two applications for accreditation with an International University and a US Department of Education are under consideration.'
